Musician/Journalist Michael Simmons on writing Dylan liner notes, playing with Kinky Friedman, Larry Campbell, and his band Slewfoot, and more (Boston Harold Podcast)

Hello, and welcome to the Boston Harold Video Podcast. Today's special guest is musician and music journalist Michael Simmons, here for a return visit.

Simmons is first and foremost a singer-songwriter. He was also an editor of the National Lampoon, and I first saw Michael, with his band Slewfoot, as part of a National Lampoon revue in 1977. He has collaborated with, among others, Kinky Friedman, Steve Goodman, Mountain's Corky Laing, and Bob Dylan sidemen Tony Garnier, Howie Wyeth, Rob Stoner and Larry Campbell. Simmons can be seen in a documentary about Larry and his wife, Teresa Williams, titled It Was The Music

Boston Harold Video Podcast via Zoom, March 10, 2021

As a music journalist, Michael has written for Mojo magazine, the Huffington Post, and L.A. Weekly. He has also penned the liner notes for albums by Michael Bloomfield, Kris Kristofferson, Kinky Friedman, a tribute to Mose Allison, the U.K. compilation (available in the U.S. and elsewhere) of Dylan's original masters of songs used in the play Girl From the North Country, and two other Dylan albums: Another Self Portrait - Bootleg Series Vol. 10 and the brand new release Bob Dylan 1970 (Featuring George Harrison). Simmons is also writing Kinky Friedman's bio for his website.

Michael and I discuss these topics and many others in this interview.

Thanks and enjoy.
